By regularly organizing symposia like the Freiburger Symposium, the board of the DIAC aims to achieve the following:
- Next to the General Assembly, the Freiburger Symposium is one of the two major events in the yearly calendar of the Division of Industrial and Applied Chemistry. The symposia regularly provide our members and other interested chemists working in process and product development and production with opportunities for professional development. The Freiburger Symposium is open to all interested parties. Members of the Division of Industrial and Applied Chemistry, the other members of the SCS, members of the SVC, students, post-docs, pensioners and unemployed persons benefit from reduced registration fees.
- For the participants these symposia are an information and discussion forum for topics of fundamental or current professional relevance. The different aspects of the symposium‘s topic are presented by speakers from industry and academia either in overview presentations, talks on special topics or industrial case studies. Summaries of these presentations are usually published in one of the following CHIMIA issues.
- Additionally the conferences are a popular and well used platform for maintaining professional networks. Therefore the organizers do not just focus on a program rich in content but they also give the participants ample opportunities for networking and personal contact.
- Coffee breaks, hearty luncheons, aperitifs or an evening stroll through the beautiful city of Freiburg/Fribourg provide the basis for many interesting conversations about problems and solutions of the daily business.
The registration fee paid by all participants is used to cover the organizational cost. The Freiburger Symposium should generate neither profit nor loss.
